Mauricio Pochettino is confident that Chelsea will rally back in second-leg of Carabao Cup

Mauricio Pochettino says he is positive that Chelsea will turn the tie around when the Blues host Middlesbrough in the second leg of the Carabao Cup following a 1-0 loss in the first leg.

The Boro team’s goal in the first half was sufficient to give them a lead going into the second leg, so Chelsea supporters shouldn’t be too concerned because of the small disadvantage.

However, they should be particularly concerned about the player’s wastefulness in front of the net during the first leg, and they are hoping that this won’t occur during the second leg.

We were the dominant team and deserved to win the game handily. However, occasionally our carelessness in front of the goal is so demoralising that we believe our young team still has a long way to go before becoming a better unit.

After the game, Pochettino wasn’t worried about the defeat and gave a positive verdict when Chelsea’s side will host Michael Carrick, (h/t Daily Mail), and told Sky Sports:

‘’Of course we are disappointed. It is the first half of the tie. We have another 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge, and we have to be positive.”

Mauricio Pochettino is confident that Chelsea will stage a comeback in the second leg of the Carabao Cup.

Pochettino is optimistic about this situation and knows that his squad may improve in the second leg. However, the biggest concern is their ineffectiveness in front of goal, which is a cry for help and lower than the midtable Premier League team in terms of quality. Furthermore, it is useless to blame the management because our attack is the primary issue that needs to be dealt with.

We occasionally play so horribly in front of goal that it’s not debatable if we need to buy a prolific striker. If we don’t win any trophies this season, Pochettino will need to alter our attacking lineup since outperforming our opponents won’t matter if we can’t score goals.
