Chelsea will have to pay £112million to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli

Chelsea’s tryst with Victor Osimhen just doesn’t seem to be coming to an end. Despite the Napoli striker signing a new contract with the Italian club, the Blues continue to be heavily linked with a transfer for him.

Much of it has to do with the fact that Chelsea’s existing #9s have proven to be extremely ineffective in front of goal. The likes of Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja have flattered to deceive. This has meant that the team is extremely inconsistent with their performances.

Osimhen has lit the Serie A up with his performances in recent seasons. Along with Khvicha Kvartshkelia, the duo led the Naples to the Serie A title last season. While things might not have been as smooth this time around, the Nigerian striker is still impressive.

The 24-year-old forward is a prolific goalscorer in every sense. He has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances for the Italian side this season. One of those assists was out of the world.

Having just signed a new deal, it was assumed that the transfer talks surrounding him would die down. However, Chelsea continue to be linked with him and have learnt that they would have to pay at least £ 112 million to sign him. This is according to Football. London.

Chelsea must really be looking at serious realistic options for the number nine role. Victor Osimhen seems out of our range. We must not waste our energy in a futile attempt to try and sign the Nigerian striker.

If the Blues want to resurrect their season, signing a number nine might be a necessity. Chelsea need someone who can score regular goals. Osimhen might be a realistic summer target but the winter transfer window might not be the answer.

Currently, Chelsea don’t have a #9 on their jersey roster. Judging by the way they play on the pitch, one might be forgiven if they thought the Blues did not have a #9 on the pitch either. How many more chances are Armando Broja and Nicolas Jackson going to get?
