Chelsea have increased Conor Gallagher’s price amid Tottenham Hotspur interest

Chelsea have now increased Conor Gallagher’s asking price and will accept a bid of around £60 million after Tottenham Hotspur were said to be keen on signing the player.

However, the Daily Mirror says, (h/t Express), the midfielder is expected to remain at Chelsea despite rumours that the Blues are ready to sell him. But a proposal of around £50 million might be listened to by Blues.

As of now, Chelsea have enhanced Gallagher’s value, and Spurs are long-term admirers of the Cobham graduate and tried signing the midfielder last summer.

It is also thought that Ange Postecoglou’s side is unlikely to meet Chelsea’s demand, despite their probable agreement with the midfielder. Besides the North Londoners, Newcastle United and West Ham are also keeping an eye on Gallagher’s situation.

The 23-year-old has transformed his game this season under Mauricio Pochettino, who himself values the midfielder and wants to keep him.

However, given the Blues’ present financial circumstances, they are motivated to turn a profit and believe Gallagher might greatly assist them in doing so. Given how much the midfielder has constructed, his departure will be a huge loss for Chelsea, and it will be particularly devastating if they trade him to a direct opponent.

Chelsea will probably need to renew his contract because it expires in June of next year, but it seems unlikely that they will trade him in January. We want to keep him longer, but selling him will also help us make money because of his recent performances and the fact that he will draw quality teams that may be prepared to pay a high price for his services. It appears that we are stuck in this conundrum.

Chelsea will now need to decide on his future with the team as this is getting more complicated. We would be upset if he were to be sold since we would be losing both an academy player and a talented midfielder. The club is faced with a decision that must be made sooner, rather than later.
