Chelsea continues to express interest in signing Jhon Duran

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea preserve their interest in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran. The club has held talks to sign the striker from Villa. At just 15 years and 263 days old, the 20-year-old became the youngest goalscorer in the annals of the Colombian first division.

Unai Emery’s side had earlier turned down an offer from West Ham United for Duran as they intend to keep the striker. They will sell the 20-year-old only if they sign his replacement.

The Lions are in talks with Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers, and if they can sign the Championship striker, then the Villains will consider an offer for Duran. Duran was signed from Chicago Fire for a £18 million deal, and the forward has scored four goals this season in all competitions. Chelsea have always leaned towards signing young players.

Despite his young age, Duran exhibits a high level of maturity, and his ability to strike the ball stands out. This might be handy for Chelsea, who appear to have missed numerous opportunities. They signed Nicolas Jackson last summer, who has seven goals and is currently on national team duty at the African Cup of Nations. Armando Broja remains the only option for Mauricio Pochettino, who has so far flattered to deceive.

Signing another young player isn’t sensible because we already have two raw strikers who are still in the development phase, though Jackson seems to be picking pieces and scoring goals. Pochettino has also stressed that his squad is too young and urged the signing of experienced players, as it will balance the roster and quicken the transformation of the club.

Duran’s signing only puts more work on Pochettino to develop another young player because we can see the entire squad consists of inexperienced players, and we just cannot go on to acquiring young talents.

Chelsea show interest in signing Karim Benzema.

To sign players, our recruitment team must heed Pochettino’s instructions and work alongside him. He’s done admirably thus far, and if we give him more influence during the transfer window, perhaps he can add players that will easily gel with his system and help assemble a strong team.

The physically powerful Colombian striker is capable of taking on any defender. He has excellent positional awareness and can also aid with building up. If we bring Duran, then one striker will leave, and it could be Broja, because currently we seem to have to make a profit before going for any signing, and the club has put Broja on the selling list.
