“I don’t want to lose him”- Thomas Frank sends stern message to Chelsea regarding Ivan Toney’s Brentford future

Chelsea are favourites to land Brentford striker Ivan Toney

Brentford manager Thomas Frank wants Ivan Toney to remain at the club amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. The forward could leave the Bees once he resumes playing.

Toney’s future at the Bees is growing uncertain, and once he returns to action, the striker will have a big decision to make. He is currently serving an eight-month ban after breaching Premier League betting rules.

The 27-year-old will start playing football once again in January, when his ban ends on 16, 2024. But interest from Chelsea and Arsenal could tempt the forward to try his career somewhere else.

Last season, Toney finished third in the Premier League behind Harry Kane and Erling Haaland in the goalscoring charts and led Brentford to a ninth-place finish. The Blues are favourites to sign Toney, but Frank hopes he keeps the striker until the end of the season.

Frank has urged Toney to remain at Brentford, (h/t Metro), and further revealed to the Standard:

‘’I don’t want to lose him. I hope, and I think, he’ll be a Brentford player on February 1. Everyone saw what he did last year. It’s not like he broke a leg or did his ACL, so he’s fit and probably even more ambitious to get success. I’m convinced he will be absolutely on it.’’

Frank obviously wants Toney to stay at Brentford because of his prowess at finding the back of the net. Had he not been suspended, Toney would have maintained his stellar performance from the previous season, which would have increased his transfer market value.
