Ben Chilwell comments on Chelsea star Reece James’ post-surgery photo

Chelsea captain Reece James successfully underwent hamstring surgery he suffered this season and will start his recovery programme at Cobham.

The right-back sustained the hamstring injury in a 2-0 defeat to Everton and was considering undergoing surgery and finally decided to go for surgery and could miss three to four months now.

James has already suffered a hamstring injury this season in the first game of the season and once again he experienced the same ailment. Ultimately, he decided to get surgery to prevent further occurrences of this injury.

His injury problems have been a major concern given the right-back has barely played since last season due to frequent injuries. After successfully undergoing surgery the right-back took to Instagram and said:

“The footballing world knew I got injured but the procedure I would go down this time took slightly longer to figure out the best solution. I had surgery today to try fix my reoccurring hamstring issue, the recovery has started, both physically and mentally.”

“Since this injury I’ve had a good amount of support but significantly more hate and negativity. Believe me I don’t wanna be injured, I’m happiest when I’m playing football. Thanks to the understanding people that support me despite the highs or the lows, it goes a long way. Stay well, Reece.”

Many Chelsea players commented on his post and one of them was Ben Chilwell who said: “Everything happens for a reason. U’ll be back stronger my brother” with blues hearts emoji.

James made the right choice in having surgery because he has been dealing with a hamstring issue since the previous season, and he has already sustained the same ailment twice during the current campaign. Although the procedure will require extended time away from the field, at least he won’t have to deal with the same injury during games.

He’s been unfortunate to sustain injuries at such an early age. He hasn’t performed at his best during the matches mainly because of injuries.

Despite being unable to reach his full potential, he is regarded as one of the best right-backs. It’s awful how much of the mental strain being often injured takes; the previous season, he had to consult a therapist due to a knee injury he sustained before the FIFA World Cup. Hopefully, he returns next year better than ever.
