Brentford director Lee Dykes says Chelsea target Ivan Toney will leave club very shortly

Brentford director Lee Dykes has confirmed Ivan Toney leaving the club is on the cards after he revealed this to the club’s media as Chelsea and Arsenal continue their pursuit.

The Bees have slapped a £100 million price tag on the striker, and it remains to be seen which club will outbid each other to claim his services.

Chelsea have sounded out their interest in the forward and are ready to make a January move for the 27-year-old. They have constantly spent big on quality players and won’t be bothered to spend again.

However, compared to last season, the Blues have started to show their clinical edge and are one of the best-attacking teams this campaign.

Now that Christopher Nkunku has returned, Chelsea have more options in their No. 9 role, and the Blues might first assess his performance before making a decision on his striker signing in January.

Brentford director Toney has been made available in the transfer window, (h/t The Sun), speaking to the club’s media team:

“Lots of interest. For the 27-year-old in the January transfer window. There should be interest, and maybe the time comes very shortly that Ivan moves on to another club.”

Chelsea continue their pursuit of Ivan Toney.

Given Toney’s high price tag, there are a lot of considerations we need to make before signing him. Given that, we just spent plenty during the summer window, we have to comply with Financial Fair Play and aren’t in a position to spend heavily once more. Therefore, before making any signings, the team must first make some sales during the winter transfer window.

Now that Nkunku is back, we should wait until January to see how he performs before deciding whether to add another striker. In addition, we are interested in acquiring Victor Osimhen, so Chelsea will need to make a couple of decisions before pursuing Toney in the January or the summer transfer window.
