Mark Lawrenson has told Chelsea target Ivan Toney to join Arsenal

Mark Lawrenson has told Ivan Toney to snub Chelsea and join Arsenal, where he will be a good fit for the North Londoners. Toney has been linked with a move away as he enters the final months of his ban after breaching Premier League betting rules.

The 27-year-old striker has started training and also participated in indoor games to regain his fitness before he returns to Premier League action in January.

However, it will be doubtful if the former Newcastle United striker will remain at Brentford, as the forward has been harboured by many English clubs.

The Bees are aware of the club’s interest and have slapped a £100 million price tag on him. It remains to be seen which club will match his asking price. However, pundit Lawrenson has urged Toney to choose Arsenal over Chelsea, (h/t Football. London), Speaking to Paddy Power, he further said:

“Ivan Toney would be a good fit at Arsenal. It would be difficult for him, as he wouldn’t have been at a big club before, where it’s a completely different mentality.”

“If Arsenal sign him, they’ll make sure he gets loads of supply up top. He scores penalties, which is a bonus. If he doesn’t need to move his house or his family out of London, it’s a no-brainer.”

Ivan Toney is nearing a return to the Premier League after his ban.

It is unclear which clubs he will join. Saying he will have an abundance of supply, however, is absurd since the Blues are ahead of Arsenal for most chances created this season, but their lack of clinicalness has resulted in fewer goals.

Toney will have the final say on the matter, and because he will turn 28 in March, it also raises the question of who will pay the  £100 million for him. Chelsea will know that it is not a smart move to spend so much money on a player who is getting close to his 30s. Next summer, they can add some extra funds and sign Victor Osimhen, who will be four years younger than Toney and has superior playing characteristics.
