Journalist Paul Brown reveals there some tension between Chelsea board and Mauricio Pochettino over club transfer policy

Journalist Paul Brown reveals Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t been convinced of Chelsea’s board transfer policy after the club’s initiative to sign young players under Todd Boehly.

Pochettino was appointed this summer and has so far done a decent job in the last 12 matches as Chelsea languish in the 10th spot. But the club has started witnessing great improvement in performance and scoring goals.

Last campaign, the board appointed four managers as the club endured a disappointing season, finishing 12th in the table with a bloated squad.

Chelsea have spent £1billion under Todd Bohely

However, the club managed to offload plenty of unwanted players, but there are still concerns over the Blues’ transfer policy, which has thrown headaches at Pochettino.

Journalist Paul Brown feels Pochettino’s lack of say in Chelsea’s transfer policy has created tension between both parties. Speaking to GiveMeSport, he further commented:

“I think there have been some quite strange decisions made by Chelsea’s board over the last few months, and that situation is probably one to watch because I don’t think they will have a lot of money to spend in January. They still have a couple of holes in their squad despite signing all these players, and Pochettino is under pressure both to win now and to show that he can build something for the future by giving a lot of these younger players they signed big roles at the club.”

“All of those things are not easy to achieve very quickly, so I do think there’s some tension there, and it will be interesting to see how much patience Chelsea have because Pochettino is a great manager, and I think they should be listening to his views on players in the transfer market.”

Mauricio Pochettino isn’t convinced of Chelsea board transfer method.

We have spent £1 billion on transfers in the last three seasons under Boehly, so it goes without saying that the board and management will be under pressure to win every game. People are paying attention to us since we are among the teams that sign young players throughout the transfer window the most actively. It is obvious that Pochettino will need time to fully integrate this club’s youthful roster.

However, since he is the manager, he will only consider players who align with his style. As such, he should have a role during the transfer window; otherwise, our board would just sign young players, and it would make the Argentine manager’s work even more challenging to make the team competitive.
