Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez offers fitness update ahead of Manchester City clash

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez offers a fitness update ahead of the game against Manchester City, with him having come off in the impressive 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur after a heavy red-card earning tackle from Cristian Romero.

Enzo ever since he made the move to Chelsea in January, the Argentinian has been ever-present except for one game which he missed out. The former Benfica man is exceptional in midfield and brings a lot to the table.

The World Cup winner started the game against Spurs but struggled to impose himself on the match as Tottenham ran the Blues rugged in the opening minutes. However, it was a tackle on Enzo that completely turned the game on its head.

Cristian Romero, never someone to shy away from a tackle absolutely took the Chelsea man out who understandably was in immediate pain. Romero understandably was sent off and the Blues went on to win the game 4-1.

Considering the nature of the challenge and the fact that he was taken off at halftime, there have been doubts if Enzo Fernandez will be ready to face Manchester City this weekend. Beating Pep Guardiola’s team will definitely not be easy.

Amidst all the uncertainty, Enzo took to social media to reveal that he is feeling fine, recovering and hoping to be fit for the clash against the reigning champions.

“Thank you all for your messages. I am good, working in my recovery to get to the weekend in the best way *blue heart emoji*.”

Enzo has not revealed much on whether or not he has really suffered an injury and if he would be fit for the weekend’s game. Ideally, Chelsea will want to keep it under the wraps for as long as possible.

Against a team like Manchester City, it is very difficult to control the midfield. In fact, the game might be lost or won here and having Enzo would be absolutely crucial to our success. However, it will not be easy to recover him by this weekend.
