Chelsea could sell Conor Gallagher next summer after no advancement in contract talks

Chelsea are at risk of losing Conor Gallagher next summer window, who is yet to extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2025, (Transfermarkt).

According to GiveMeSport, (h/t Express), Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement with the midfielder to extend his contract and if an agreement fails to be reached between both parties then he could be sold.

He could be another academy player who can leave after Mason Mount left for Manchester United last summer. It could be a big loss for the Blues, given that the midfielder has redeemed himself as a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino and has appeared in all 10 matches in the Premier League.

Unquestionably, the England international’s performance has undergone a significant transformation, and he now appears to be an essential component of our team.

Now losing him like this will be a big blow for us because we barely have enough academy players now aside from Reece James. We can only expect that both parties will decide to extend his contract.

Other clubs will benefit a lot from his addition now that we have seen significant improvement in his performance, which has guaranteed him a regular playing spot in the starting lineup.

The Argentine manager was convinced by his performance and also handed him the captain’s armband in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

If we don’t opt to extend his contract, it will be a bad move because the midfield player has battled to stay at the club after Chelsea expressed interest in selling him in the summer. However, why would you trade a player who has committed himself to the team and elevated his performance over time? It won’t be a good decision but it’s up to the club to decide and Pochettino should have a big say in this because he knows how much quality Gallagher now adds to the squad.

The case with Mount was different since he wanted to quit the club and we had no other choice; if we had kept him, we would have lost him for nothing. I hope we avoid the same error and quickly extend Gallagher’s contract.
