“I’m very, very happy here”- 29-year-old loanee confirms he doesn’t want Chelsea return for stay at current club

Kepa Arrizabalaga has admitted he hopes to move to Real Madrid from Chelsea permanently

Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga reveals he hopes to remain at Real Madrid beyond his loan stint. The Spanish goalkeeper has replaced injured Thibaut Courtois for an entire season.

Courtois, who tore his ACL, is not expected to return before March. Now Kepa is expecting to continue his career at the Spanish capital despite joining them on a season-long loan spell.

The former Athletic Bilbao goalie was considering a move in the summer window after the Blues signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino was convinced by Kepa and wanted him to remain at Chelsea and compete for No. 1 with Sanchez, although he decided to join Madrid on loan.

Now he is expecting to remain there on a long-term deal, which could be tough given that Ancelotti’s preferred choice could be the Belgian custodian once he returns from injury.

But Kepa has made his feelings clear regarding his future at Chelsea and feels it will be best to continue at Real, (h/t Metro) as he told Spanish TV, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

‘’Of course, I’d love to stay at Real Madrid in the future. Who doesn’t want to stay at this club? I’m very, very happy here.’’

Considering that we have signed Sanchez, who has been terrific in goal we would have no difficulty selling Kepa permanently. Sanchez has been exemplary for us, he has made some spectacular saves in games, and it now appears like Pochettino will favour Sanchez even if Kepa returns to Chelsea.

Will Kepa once again serve as the backup custodian after Courtois returns to the field, putting his career at Real in jeopardy? The Los Blancos will favour the former Atletico Madrid custodian as their starting goalkeeper, which could once again see the Spanish goalkeeper act as reserve goalie, for the time being, but let’s see how things pan out.
