Premier League clubs including Chelsea are monitoring RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo

Chelsea have sounded out their interest in RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo and hope to conclude another transfer deal with the German club after signing Christopher Nkunku last summer.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, (h/t Football.London) Olmo is closely being followed by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. An experienced player, the Spanish international is one for the big occasions.

Chelsea have previously signed the likes of Timo Werner and Nkunku from Leipzig, and now it appears they will once again indulge in transfer activity with the German club. The former flopped at the Bridge while the latter is currently out with an injury. Hopefully, Olmo will enjoy better fortune should he move to Stamford Bridge.

Following the exit of Nkunku, Olmo has taken on a big role at the German club and has been their top scorer this season with five goals in all competitions. He put Bayern Munich to the sword with a hat-trick in the DFL Supercup and continues to make a telling impact on the field for Leipzig.

Olmo is a versatile attacker who can operate as an offensive midfielder and on the left wing, but Chelsea seems to have enough options in both areas. However, the Blues can add another attacking midfielder, but if they manage to sign the Spanish international, he will certainly have to contend for his spot.

Chelsea’s main issue has remained scoring goals, and they have failed to locate a proven striker over the years, while their other positions look well stacked. Considering his release clause is £52 million, Chelsea are well within their rights to make an attempt to land him.

His recent performance has shown Olmo is a prolific attacker, but Chelsea will benefit from more of an established number nine to lead their line. Olmo is 25 and possesses enough experience to reinforce our attacking line, but right now he doesn’t fit our criteria. As mentioned above, we have enough attackers but not a proven striker.

But we face a tough battle with other big clubs for his signing considering we face competition from other teams such as Madrid, City, and Arsenal. They are at their best form and have the Champions League to offer. We are going through a makeover, and we are unsure if the project in its current stage will prove appealing to Olmo.
