Chelsea are expected to make a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January

Brentford star striker Ivan Toney is one of the most talked about names when it comes to Chelsea transfer targets and not without reason.

Chelsea spent a lot of money this season in signing young players to build the team for the present and the future. They also sold very well, getting rid of the old crop and basically trimming the squad off its deadwood.

Sadly though, there was one thing that they missed out on or were not able to do. That is signing a talented but experienced striker. No, not someone like Nicolas Jackson who is still young and honing his skills.

Chelsea need a number nine who can come in and start scoring goals immediately. It would be preferable if he had Premier League experience which would mean he doesn’t have to settle into a new league or country.

Ivan Toney ticks both these boxes and many more. One of the most interesting strikers going around, there is a reason why the Englishman is so highly rated. Such has been his performances for Brentford over the years.

When available, undoubtedly their star player, Ivan Toney is admired by the Bees. The striker might be missing out now due to a suspension related to a betting allegation but should be back soon.

According to Independent, it is highly likely that Chelsea make a move for him in the winter. They would be hoping to reach an agreement with Brentford who are a selling club and might agree to do so at the right price.

Mauricio Pochettino after a tough start to life at Stamford Bridge seems to be turning it around with his management skills. He has made some excellent decisions which has been paying off.

After all, who would have thought that this inexperienced group of Chelsea youngsters could dominate against a well-oiled Arsenal, give them a run for their money and almost win a game? Unfortunately, they drew after playing so well. Nevertheless, the signs are there and it is only a matter of time.
