Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Santiago Gimenez

Arsenal are set to battle Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for the acquisition of Feyenoord sensation Santiago Gimenez. According to Bild, (h/t Express) the Gunners are among the clubs monitoring Gimenez’s situation at Feyenoord and could tempt him to switch to a North London club in 2024.

However, it won’t be straightforward considering other London clubs such as Chelsea and Spurs could act as a hindrance to their signing. The 22-year-old has started this season with nine goals in six appearances in the Dutch League, which has impressed Premier League giants.

He was previously linked with a move to De Kuip Stadium but opted to remain at Feyenoord, but the next summer window will be crucial as many clubs will knock on the door of the Dutch club. Besides, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are also keen on signing him and sent scouts to assess his performance against Ajax Amsterdam, but hopefully, Gimenez is convinced to join Premier League sides with a dream in Blue.

Given that Chelsea already have two young strikers and that playing in the Premier League is very different from playing in other leagues, it would be wiser for them to explore elsewhere. They also have Ivan Toney on their radar for January, and it would be wise to sign him given his background in the English top division and credentials.

Spurs already have the likes of Richarlison and Brennan Johnson, but the Brazilian hasn’t been particularly effective in front of the goal. Johnson will undoubtedly need a backup because he’s still too young to be solely responsible for scoring goals every game, so it makes sense for the team to add Gimenez.

The same is true for Arsenal, who now have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as two capable forwards. However, the Brazilian has a history of injuries and isn’t sufficiently dependable. While Nketiah is excellent, it’s clear Arsenal will need a backup player. Meanwhile, It will be better for us to locate a savvy centre-forward this time.
