Thiago Silva hits back at fan who said Chelsea should drop him

Thiago Silva lashed out at Chelsea fan who recommended them they should drop him in the next game after the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea suffered their second defeat of the season and have only won once under Mauricio Pochettino. The club will now go into the international break.

Following the final whistle by the referee, the players were jeered by the fans after their second loss of the new season, while former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back was targeted on Instagram.

After the game, an account named talkcfc_ posted a comment on the Brazilian’s performance and urged Pochettino to drop his next game (h/t Express), as he said:

‘’Becoming a problem. This won’t go down well, but I think it’s time to drop Thiago Silva. Playing him is becoming a problem because we have to play a back-five to shoehorn him in. Playing four at the back will allow us to be better going forward, and I don’t think we’ll suffer much at the back. Nothing buck respect to Thiago, but I think we’d be better off without him at the moment.’

But Silva accepted the criticism and replied:

‘’If you look closely at the game, we are playing with a line of four, my friend. But there’s no problem in assuming that I’m also responsible for the defeat. Put pressure on me. No problem yesterday!’’

Pointing out one individual is meaningless because, overall, we were the superior team, but the primary problem was a lack of chances that were generated and executed. Because of our one mistake, we were punished. Maybe Pochettino should start using his pre-season formation with four at the back instead of three and play Ben Chilwell as a left-wing back.

We need a real winger since Mykhaylo Mudryk hasn’t proven he deserves to start, but Pochettino doesn’t seem to believe in him. We cannot continue to lose to weaker teams; therefore, the Argentine manager will need to decide soon.
