Mauricio Pochettino hopes Chelsea will build momentum after the 1-0 win over Brighton

Mauricio Pochettino is expecting Chelsea to continue their winning trend following the 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

A 50th-minute goal from Nicolas Jackson was enough to see off the Seagulls in the competition as the West Londoners finally ended their much-awaited wait for a third win in all competitions this season.

Fans have been desperate to see the Blues come out on top, and last night’s victory has restored a sense of optimism. Hopefully, the pattern will continue in their upcoming games, helping push us up the table.

This was Cheslea’s fourth win since March in all competitions, which outlines the gravity of the current situation for the club. Following their triumph over the Seagulls, the Blues next face Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round. It is another favourable tie and should help us put in a strong Cup run this season.

The Argentine manager will hope that Chelsea’s fortunes are turning after ending their dismal streak in the Carabao Cup. (h/t Independent) Speaking at the post-match press conference, he said:

“Very pleased with the performance again. I am happy for the victory, and it is important to go through and build our momentum. I hope to build momentum for the future from today on.”

We routed a significant team that is presently in the top three of the Premier League standings, and they have been outstanding as they overcame the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United with big margins. This is therefore a respectable accomplishment for us since it demonstrates that Pochettino’s method is slowly bearing fruits. All we have to do is be patient and we start seeing Chelsea slowly dominate London, England and then Europe.

Hopefully, what Mauricio Pochettino stated will come true, and we will start on an upward trajectory. The players will feel more convinced after that victory, and Jackson in particular will have reason for optimism having ended his wait for a goal. Brighton, admittedly, were not at full strength and we will face tougher challenges ahead. But as long as the winning momentum builds, the Blues should remain unfazed.
