Chelsea could make a summer move for Victor Osimhen with two more players in the fray

Chelsea have added Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to their three-man striker shortlist as they strive to find an established striker to address their goalscoring woes in the upcoming transfer windows.

According to GiveMeSport, (h/t Express) the Blues have Osimhen in mind alongside Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins and will assess the situation in January if the chance arises. Any of the names would be an upgrade over who we have at this moment in time.

Osimhen has kept up with his last season’s form and has three goals in four appearances this time around. Toney meanwhile is currently banned but should return to contention in January. Both he and Toney are proven in the Premier League and can make an instant impact in Blue.

Meanwhile, Watkins has yet to find the back of the net but remains an integral part of Unai Emery’s team this season. Chelsea’s plans to buy only young players haven’t come to fruition, and now the club will hope to add some experience to the squad.

After a discouraging 0-0 draw with Bournemouth yesterday, the Blues once again came up empty-handed. The players in the opposition’s box seemed perplexed despite having multiple opportunities. Nicolas Jackosn hasn’t had much of an influence and has missed several good chances, which has hampered Chelsea’s effectiveness in front of the goal.

However, Toney hasn’t played football, so he will take time to get fit before he picks up his form, and it will be challenging to sign Osimhen because of his £172 million (€200 million) price tag. But then few can question the Nigerian ace’s quality.
