Chelsea and Arsenal to battle for teenage Belgian Pro League sensation

Chelsea and Arsenal are both interested in Norwegian wonderkid Antonio Nusa

According to The Express, Premier League giants Chelsea will face competition from Arsenal in the race to land Norwegian sensation Antonio Nusa.

The 18-year-old is making waves in the Belgian top flight with Club Brugge. The teenager came through the ranks at Langhus and Stabaek before moving to Club Brugge in 2021. He has since made 46 appearances for the Bleuw-Zwart, scoring four goals and assisting three more in all competitions.

He recently was called up for the Scandinavian nation’s senior side and won his debut in the recently concluded international break. In his two appearances for the side so far, he has scored once and assisted thrice. Surely, he is primed to explode onto the scene in a big way.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier that Chelsea intend to continue scouting Antonio Nusa.

Chelsea made an unsuccessful bid to land Nusa in the last few days of the recently concluded summer transfer window. Speaking to TV2 via Sportwitness (h/t football.london) earlier this month, the Norwegian sensation confirmed that an offer was made by Chelsea but that he was unaware of it at that point in time.

The Blues continue to monitor the youngster’s progress and remain keen on his services. Arsenal could also enter the fray given the positive appraisal given by their skipper and Norwegian star Martin Odegaard. At least for now, Chelsea remain in the front seat.

Nusa’s current deal with the Belgian giants expires in 2027 and it does give Brugge some leeway when it comes to negotiations. Chelsea’s unsuccessful bid in the summer was for £30 million and strong performances in the coming months will only steel the Belgian side’s resolve to retain their star man.

Touted as the new Neymar, Nusa has big boots to fill. If early signs are something to go by, the Norwegian certainly is on the right track to glory.

Chelsea just have to make sure they are not going around signing too many young players. Too much of everything can be harmful and we won’t want a number of raw players for Mauricio Pochettino to train all at once.
