Manchester United are eyeing move for Amadou Onana amid Chelsea interest

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are assessing a transfer for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana amid Chelsea’s interest. Erik ten Hag’s side are looking for further additions after landing Mason Mount in the midfield area.

Onana had a breakthrough season last term, where he played a starring role that saw the Toffees once again manage to remain in the Premier League after coming close to being relegated.

The midfielder appeared in 33 matches for Everton and could leave the club if United submit an offer for the youngster. The Red Devils are also looking at Sofyan Ambrabat from Fiorentina to improve their midfield.

For the Blues, it remains a big ask to sign the 21-year-old as they are fully focused on signing Moises Caicedo and closing in on acquiring Romeo Lavia after reaching an agreement with Southampton.

The Blues were heavily linked with the Belgian midfielder but they are yet to make a strong approach. This could allow the Reds to swoop in for the Everton star.

The 21-year-old was willing to leave Everton then, but Chelsea could not advance the transaction. If we sign Lavia and Caicedo, then there won’t be an immediate need for another central midfielder for now.

Manchester United also have Casemiro in their ranks but they could need a long-term replacement for the former Real Madrid star. And if their deal for Amrabat falls through they could need someone to play in.a double pivot alongside the Brazilian.

Only Casemiro and Scott McTominay are serving as defensive midfielders, although the Scottish player featured less last season. Fred is close to joining Fenerbahce. If the Red Devils sign the Belgian, he should easily fit in given his experience playing in the Premier League and his key contribution to the Toffees’ previous season.

And this isn’t something Chelsea should mind if they spunk the cash on Caicedo and Lavia.
