Bayern Munich are heavily interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah

According to Daily Mail, Bayern Munich have opened talks with Chelsea to make a move for Trevoh Chalobah, who hasn’t featured this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Following the signing of Harry Kane, Bayern are now looking to add a defender before the transfer window closes, and former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the centre-back, having already worked with him.

Tuchel gave the 24-year-old his Chelsea debut as the Blues went on to win the Champions League. The Blues are also looking to balance their squad before the end of the transfer window. Benjamin Pavard‘s exit could allow the German club to move for Chalobah, who will provide dynamism at the back.

Chalobah would be sensible to make a move, given Chelsea are stacked at the back. New signing Axel Disasi has been acquired as Wesely Fofana’s replacement, which indicates Chalobah is now the fifth-choice centre-back.

Reuniting with Tuchel will also be beneficial for him, considering he has played under him and the German manager knows where he can flourish at the back.

Meanwhile, remaining at Chelsea will see him barely get minutes on the pitch. So if Pavard leaves, then the English centre-back will have a chance to replace him.

His progress will only be hampered if he stays at Chelsea, which is something he doesn’t want. He will have the opportunity to play matches frequently at Bayern and could blossom into an effective defender there under Tuchel, who has already handled the centre-back.

Chalobah’s versatility is an added bonus because it allows Bayern to use him anywhere in the defence, which will be quite advantageous.

It is difficult to imagine Chalobah joining the starting XI after he recovers from his injury because Chelsea has a surplus of centre-backs. We can only hope that Bayern will make him a good offer that will entice him to go.
