Chelsea set to submit £112 million offer for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde

Chelsea are keen on bringing Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde to west London as they prepare a £112 million offer to sign the Uruguayan.

According to Spanish outlet Nacional via Football 365 (h/t Football.London) Chelsea are interested in signing the 25-year-old. Liverpool have also shown interest, and their €80 million bid for the midfielder was earlier rejected by the Blues.

Todd Boehly and co. have already prepared a bid of €130 million (£112 million) as they try to break down Real Madrid’s resistance to keeping Los Blancos.

It is also understood that Chelsea are open to making the Uruguayan midfielder one of the best-paid players in the Premier League. Valverde has been an instrumental player for Real Madrid since he joined the club but has been used out of position on the right wing.

Perfect signing

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s quest to reinforce their central midfield is on as they struggle to reach an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Moises Caicedo.

The Seagulls have rejected their recent bid of £80m, and now the Ecuadorian midfielder is set to ask Brighton to lower his asking price in order to make his move to Stamford Bridge.

Valverde appears to be a solid signing who is a flexible midfielder and is full of energy. He can play anywhere in the middle of the field and also down the right flank. He has adequate experience at age 25, too. Given that Chelsea may present a £112 million proposal, which is far greater than Liverpool’s offer, it could be difficult to reject for Los Blancos.

We’ll have to come to a personal arrangement with the Uruguayan as well, so let’s wait and see how things turn out. But hopefully, he is put off by the fact that Real Madrid have signed Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer and Fran Garcia to play as a left-back, which will free Eduardo Camavinga to play in midfield.

With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos also still at the club, Valverde could have to struggle for meaningful playing time.
