Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has made his feelings clear on joining Chelsea in his latest interview. He has called Chelsea a historic club and admits he won’t be sayng no to the interest from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been pushing for the 21-year-old’s signing for a while now. But negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion have not yielded fruitful results so far. The Blues are currently trying to negotiate a £100 million price tag for the midfielder who could replace N’Golo Kante on the roster.
Brighton have shown no sign of lowering his asking price, which puts the bal in our court. Despite the player having now openly admitted to joining Chelsea, Brighton hold the aces when it comes to negotiations.
However, this isn’t the first time the Ecuadorian midfielder tried to force his move away from the Seagulls in January, but Brighton ultimately blocked the transfer. However, he signed a new deal soon after perhaps hinting that an arragement exists between him and the club that facilitates a summer exit.
The 21-year-old was very vocal about the interest emanting from Stamford Bridge. Talking to La Cancha Con Majo (h/t Daily Mail), this is what he had to say:
‘’It’s a big team, that’s true, A very historic team, and I can’t say no because it is a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful. I know how to handle it. I don’t get carried away by emotions. I’m enjoying time with my family for now. There is pressure, but I am calm. I am waiting for whatever God decides. He will know what is best for me.’’
Caicedo has made it known that he wants to sign with Chelsea, and his presence will significantly improve our midfield that has seen a flurry of exits this summer.
Since N’Golo Kante left, finding a defensive midfielder has become the most important task. Caicedo will undoubtedly fill the vacuum left by the Frenchman, as he possesses similar traits to the former Leicester City midfielder. Alongside Enzo Fernandez, the Ecuadorian more or less future proofs our midfield.
The Seagulls’ asking price remains a major obstacle in our pursuit of Caicedo. Hopefully, negotiations will make more headway in the coming weeks, moving the 21-year-old closer to the Stamford Bridge entry doors.
