Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is attracting interest from Chelsea

Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in the ongoing transfer window, according to football.london.

The France international has popped back on the Blues’ radar after being linked with us last summer. As things stand, the Bluagrana’s much-publicised financial issues could lead to the forward parting ways with them.

To that end, the Stamford Bridge side have been identified as one of the suitors to get a hold of the 26-year-old’s signature. However, the West London club will have to pay £42.9 million to get him.

Chelsea are eyeing a move for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund. The French national signed a contract extension with the La Liga outfit last year. But at the moment, his existing deal at the Blaugrana expires next summer.

In Germany, the forward had shown immense potential and was considered one of the best prospects in world football. However, the 26-year-old has failed to live up to expectations at the Spanish giants so far.

Dembele has been injury prone over the years at Barcelona, which has hampered his development. The French national spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season as well.

However, the 26-year-old still possesses a lot of talent. In 35 appearances in all competitions, he found the back of the net eight times and provided nine assists in the 2022/23 term for Barcelona. The forward was deployed on both the right and left wings and was often threatening.

At Chelsea, the forward line has seen an exodus with Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic leaving. Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang is also expected to depart. We are left with Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk as our wingers.

In the previous campaign, most of our forwards were underwhelming. Therefore, we could seemingly do with a player like Dembele in our ranks. However, it remains to be seen whether the West London club will pursue him.
