Real Madrid have pulled themselves into the hunt for Kai Havertz as they pursue Chelsea target Harry Kane, who is ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Marca, (h/t Metro)The Spanish club is prioritising Kane’s acquisition and no longer has any interest in signing the German international.
Following the departure of Karim Benzema, Los Blancos were interested in signing the 23-year-old, and the Blues were willing to let him go.
But now Real are keen on recruiting England striker Harry Kane, whom Chelsea are also interested in signing. They have withdrawn their interest in the former Bayern Leverkusen team.
However, Spurs don’t want to sell the 29-year-old to any Premier League club and are willing to sell him to foreign teams. While the Blues have prioritised acquiring a striker, there has not been any tangible movement in that regard.
Mauricio Pochettino will have a lot of work to do, from fortifying a few areas to offloading numerous insignificant players, when he begins working in the upcoming weeks.
Havertz is still a Chelsea player and unless Real Madrid really made a strong attempt to sign him, or formally submitted an offer, there was always a possibility they would back out. He hasn’t proven himself in England for Los Merengues to go all out for him no matter what price or demands the club quotes for him.
Though, who knows, joining Real Madrid might have altered the course of his career after failing to establish himself at Chelsea after three years there.
The Spanish powerhouses are now plotting a bid for Kane, in whom Chelsea are also interested, though the club hasn’t shown enough interest in signing him thus far because they are more focused on acquiring Victor Osimhen.
