Mauricio Pochettino is keen on keeping Real Madrid target Kai Havertz at Chelsea

Kai Havertz’s transfer to Real Madrid is anticipated to be blocked by Mauricio Pochettino since the Argentine coach wants to keep the German international at Chelsea.

Pochettino wants to include Havertz, 23, in his plans for the upcoming season given that Real Madrid has expressed a consistent interest in signing the player.

Havertz was one of the players that may leave Chelsea, as West Londoners plans to sell a number of players to trim down the roster.

It looks like the former Espanyol manager wants to keep him at Chelsea, though. The former Bayern Leverkusen player functioned in an unfamiliar role this season.

He had a lacklustre season with Chelsea, playing as a striker and scoring just seven goals in 35 appearances in the Premier League. Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, wants to bring the former Leverkusen player to the capital of Spain.

Additionally, Chelsea showed signs of being open to offers, but Pochettino views Havertz as an essential part of his plan for reestablishing Stamford Bridge.

However, the 51-year-old, a former manager of Paris Saint-Germain, who is renowned for helping young players realise their potential, might be able to help Havertz realise his potential.

A lot of fans still fail to recognise that Havertz is only 23 and wonder what he might do with the right coach. Additionally, he is not a goal scorer who can consistently find the back of the net and the Argentine manager can choose to use him on the right side or play him behind the striker.

That is where he flourished during his days in Germany and it is a position where we can use a player of his profile, given the uncertainty that surrounds Mason Mount’s future at the club.

More Chelsea News:

We simply need to have faith in him and hope that Pochettino will support him in his development. But that may not be enough. The player is, of course, contracted to us until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt) but even the best youngsters in the world could be swayed by the prospect of becoming the great Karim Benzema’s replacement at Real Madrid.

Let’s see what Havertz thinks of playing under Poch next season.
