Manchester United ready to walk away from Moises Caicedo pursuit as Chelsea accept Mason Mount bid

Manchester United are willing to stall the pursuit of Moises Caicedo if Chelsea agree with their deal for Mason Mount. As per the Daily Mail, (h/t Metro) United will turn away from Caicedo’s race if Chelsea progress with their bid for the England international.

In that regard, an update from Fabrizio Romano will hold relevance. The Italian transfer expert has claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea have reached a £60million agreement for Mount.

Chelsea rejected Manchester United’s third bid for the England international, but they have given them the green light to sign the player now. In this regard, it seems they will now leave their pursuit of Caicedo.

The Blues demanded £65m for the 24-year-old, but United only offered a bid worth around £55m. However, this saw Erik Ten Hag’s side join the race to sign Caicedo and make contact with Brighton & Hove Albion for the signing of the Ecuadorian.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls have valued the midfielder at £80m, and Chelsea are set to start talks with Brighton over his signing, as the personal terms with the midfielder and club are not a major obstacle.

United now seem to have their man in Mount. And in essence, Chelsea have killed two birds with one stone. He has also agreed personal terms with United and is open to a move.

Chelsea should now consider themselves the favorites to go ahead and get a deal done for the Ecuador international. With Manchester United potentially out of the way and cash raised from Mount’s imminent sale, we should make a move for him.

N’Golo Kante joined Al-Ittihad this summer following Jorginho’s move to Arsenal in January. And that has left us with the need to bolster the defensive midfield area. We will certainly miss Mount, but if he helped us in signing Caicedo, albeit indirectly, then perhaps we can take away something positive from this saga.
