Inter Milan loan proposal for Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly rejected by Chelsea

Chelsea have rejected the proposal from Inter Milan to take Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

As things stand, the Blues are not interested in letting the Belgian and the Senegal international go on temporary moves this summer. However, the Nerazzurri and the Stamford Bridge side are set to continue their talks.

The former Manchester United striker spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan, while the centre-back just signed for us last summer. Their ideas regarding their future will be crucial in deciding their future.

Lukaku signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2021 from Inter on a permanent deal. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old’s return to the West London club did not go as planned.

Subsequently, the Belgian was shipped back to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side last summer, where he had enjoyed a decent spell previously. However, the striker failed to make a big enough impact due to fitness issues last season. He also underwhelmed the Champions League final loss to Manchester City.

As for Koulibaly, he had established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A at Napoli. However, the 31-year-old seems to have had a hard time adjusting to the Premier League.

Chelsea struggled from back to front in the previous campaign. We ended up finishing 12th in the league. The Senegalese made a number of errors in the backline.

Inter are coming off of a decent season. Their run to the UCL final was impressive, with Lautaro Martinez being their talisman. They have also been solid at the back, with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij in their ranks.

Lukaku and Koulibaly have been unable to make a mark at the Stamford Bridge side so far. Therefore, it looks like a wise decision to part ways with them. However, it would evidently be better if we were able to recoup some cash for the two this summer.
