24-year-old planning Chelsea farewell in season’s last game vs Newcastle United

Mason Mount is preparing a goodbye in Chelsea’s last game this weekend

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is planning a farewell game against Newcastle United this weekend, (Evening Standard).

The 24-year-old has failed to secure a contract extension with Chelsea despite extensive talks with owner Todd Boehly. And it has been rumoured that he is considering a move to Manchester United once the transfer window opens.

Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival, though, was meant to influence his decision, but the Argentine coach has yet to hold any talks.

Meanwhile, Boehly met with Mount in April, but they have yet to follow up on his contract negotiations. Manchester United are poised to make a bid for the England international, who has one year left on his contract. Erik Ten Hag is said to be a fan of Mount and attempted to sign him at Ajax in 2019.

Other Premier League clubs interested in signing him include Liverpool and Arsenal, with Chelsea reportedly seeking more than £60 million.

The Blues are now 12th in the Premier League table, and interim manager Frank Lampard will leave at the conclusion of the season.

The midfielder has missed most of the games due to injury and has also been ruled out of Chelsea’s final two games due to a lingering pubic bone ailment.

Mount seems to have no intention of continuing at Chelsea, which will be difficult to accept given that he was one of our own who created a reputation for himself at Stamford Bridge. But it’s understandable if he doesn’t want to stay, and we can’t even compel him if he doesn’t wish to.

However, the club has experienced more heartbreaking departures, such as Eden Hazard departing for Real Madrid and Frank Lampard joining Manchester City. It won’t be the end of the world for us.

More Chelsea News:

Hopefully, the fans give him a warm reception and understand that perhaps his vision doesn’t align with the ones that our new owners seem to possess. So many young signings in attack would only make Mount insecure, and we don’t offer UEFA Champions League football to make up for it.
