“He gets fired out of nowhere”- Chelsea star says new ownership was ‘a big change for the whole club’

Kai Havertz claims Chelsea gone through a big change following change of ownership

Kai Havertz asserted that Chelsea underwent a significant transformation this season following a change in ownership and that Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal came out of left field.

This season, Chelsea have undergone enormous change as a result of the ownership change, following sanctions on Roman Abramovich after alleged ties with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Boehly, who became Blues’ owner fired both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter in the same season, and the club made several additions throughout his tenure.

The Blues are currently enduring their worst season with interim manager Frank Lampard at the helm as Chelsea searches for a permanent manager next season. The Blues are currently in 12th place with seven games to go.

Havertz, who is personally having a difficult season, told Sky Germany, through Kicker, (h/t Metro), that the club has undergone numerous changes and that things have gone wrong this season.

“Everything that could go wrong went wrong for us this year. The season actually started relatively quietly even though we had a change of ownership, which was a big change for the whole club.”

“And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which of course always makes a big difference in a team like this when you’ve been successful with a coach and then he gets fired out of nowhere.”

It’s true that a lot has changed this season, from the take-over of new ownership to the firing of our Champions League-winning manager and then the subsequent firing of another manager. Thomas Tuchel being ousted in September came out of nowhere and it honestly seemed like a very risky call from the get-go.

Our season has also seen arguable overspending on signings, an overly large team, improper training methods, and injuries to important players. Havertz, who has played out of position, has also struggled, scoring just seven goals in 29 appearances in the Premier League.

Since Todd Boehly has never been the owner of a football club, we cannot hold him responsible for his poor decisions that have negatively affected our season. So perhaps he is still getting the hang of how this sport operates.

But there are certain things in football he should know like managers don’t want owners to intervene in some circumstances where they can manage the situation alone. Our reported managerial target Mauricio Pochettino has already made it clear to Boehly that he wouldn’t want him in the dressing room during games.

More Chelsea News:

This has been a season of transition and it will be remembered as an important phase if we sort out our ways next season. Things under Roman Abramovich went so smoothly from the get-go and we had been used to him for two decades, so perhaps the club weren’t ready mentally to realise what a big change a change in ownership is. Money isn’t the answer to everything.
