Ian Wright backs the Chelsea youngsters to benefit from potential Mauricio Pochettino appointment

Arsenal legend Ian Wright claimed that the club’s young players would become frightening opponents alongside Spurs ace Harry Kane if Chelsea hired Mauricio Pochettino.

After extensive negotiations, Chelsea are almost ready to name the former Tottenham Hotspur boss as their new head coach for the upcoming season.

Frank Lampard, the Blues’ temporary manager who has been hired until the end of the season, has overseen five losses for the team. Chelsea, which are now in 12th place, will now go to the Emirates to take on Arsenal on Tuesday.

Ian Wright says Chelsea will become a scary opponent under Pochettino.

According to ex-Arsenal star Wright, the appointment of Pochettino will be crucial for Chelsea because it will persuade Kane to sign with the Blues.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, HITC, (h/t Evening Standard) he further claimed Kane’s experience with Chelsea’s young team, according to Wright, will be fearsome:

“That’s the only thing Tottenham fans wouldn’t be able to deal with if he went to Chelsea. The way he can manage that situation, with young players, with Harry Kane, and with the players Chelsea have got. That’s scary. That could be scary for someone.”

Wright has a point as Pochettino is renowned for mentoring young players and has frequently assisted many young players in reaching their potential. There is no reason why he cannot repeat the trick at Stamford Bridge.

He helped Espanyol, which at the time had a young roster. They were in the midst of a relegation battle and he helped them avoid the drop. At Tottenham, he helped players like Son Heung-min, Kane, and Dele Ali find their rhythm.

More Chelsea News:

The young players at Chelsea lack confidence due to their limited playing time and the Argentine manager will not have an easy task getting them to believe in themselves. But given the time and resources, there is no reason why he cannot do so and if we also manage to sign Kane, that would be the cherry on top.
