Sadio Mane is keen to remain at Bayern Munich despite interest from Chelsea

Despite interest from Chelsea and Senegalese superstar, Sadio Mane is eager to remain at Bayern Munich and has no plans to leave the team anytime soon.

Incoming Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino is in favour of the club signing the former Liverpool attacker because he believes the winger suits the club’s profile.

According to Fabrizio Romano, (h/t Metro) the 31-year-old believes he can succeed at the Allianz Arena despite what has been a difficult debut campaign in Bavaria.

With only 12 goals in all competitions, the Senegalese hasn’t been able to replicate his Liverpool success in the Bundesliga. Now under Thomas Tuchel, they could be open to selling the player in the summer.

Additionally, it is known that Bayern intend to bring in a new striker, which might limit Mane’s playing time in the future. He and teammate Leroy Sane got into a fight after their Champions League match defeat against Manchester City.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are trying to strengthen a few positions since they need a reliable custodian, a holding midfielder, and a striker.

Depending on Pochettino’s interest, Mane, if he arrives, may play either as a striker or out wide. The 31-year-old has prior Premier League experience and also played under the Argentine while at Southampton.

Mane might be a fantastic acquisition since we will need experienced players in our team. The Senegalese is a bonafide ace and also has the winner’s mentality instilled in him from his spell at Liverpool. Chelsea could do with players of a similar caliber.

However, at 31, he isn’t getting any younger. Even if Mane proves to be a short-term solution, his re-sale value will be more or less nil. Chelsea are also likely to have to fork out a massive wage to secure him.

More Chelsea News:

The Blues already have Christopher Nkunku arriving in the summer and can afford to pass on Mane if the price involved is too high. He, however, has no interest to shift clubs anytime soon.
