Victor Osimhen is a huge admirer of Didier Drogba and reveals Chelsea striker is his idol

Victory Osimhen says former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is his inspiration and that he wants to emulate his career. Chelsea are keen on acquiring Osimhen to help them resolve their number nine curse,” and they believe the Nigerian can solve the situation.

However, the Blues are not the only ones in the race; there are a number of teams that will compete for the striker’s services during the summer transfer window.

The West Londoners’ search for a proven striker has been a protracted problem. Over the years, Chelsea have added players like Diego Costa and Fernando Torres, who had decent stints at Chelsea.

And, recent striker signings, such as those of Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, have not been successful.

Chelsea considers he may be the perfect striker to break the curse, and Napoli striker Osimhen has even acknowledged he wants to have a career like Drogba.

When asked if he compared himself to Ivory Coast phenomenon Didier Drogba (h/t Football.London), Osimhen responded:

“I have a huge belief that I have even more to give than I am doing now, and I think it’s a process, so I’m really working so hard towards this and to be able to do what Didier Drogba has done for his country and do the same for the Super Eagles.”

Victor Osimhen says he wants to emulate Drogba’s career.

Drogba, one of the most lethal attackers the club has ever seen, was a true blessing for Chelsea. He was a total striker for the Blues and a nuisance for defenders.

In the Champions League in 2011–12, he made one of his most significant contributions when he levelled the score against Bayern Munich to send the game to penalties and then scored the game’s winning penalty, handing Chelsea their first-ever Champions League trophy.

The Ivorians set a standard at Stamford Bridge that will live on forever. He scored 164 goals for Chelsea in 381 games across all competitions.

Osimhen could be the ideal striker who can make a difference, but it won’t be a simple task to emulate Drogba’s career. However, he possesses the quality a world-class striker needs to have, but let’s see if we can manage to seal the deal for the in-demand superstar.
