Fabrizio Romano provides the latest on Chelsea FC’s interest in Barcelona star Raphinha

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest on the speculation linking Chelsea to Barcelona star Raphinha The Blues have had a long-standing interest in signing the Brazilian since his time at Leeds United.

In the previous summer transfer window, the 26-year-old chose to leave Leeds United for Barcelona despite Chelsea showing great interest. It resulted in the Blues signing other players in the summer and subsequent January transfer market as alternatives.

Raphinha, whose season got off to a difficult start at the Nou Camp is steadily finding his feet under Xavi Hernandez. The Brazilian has made 24 league appearances, scoring six goals and assisting four more.

As Hakim Ziyech’s future at the Bridge looks unclear, it would appear that the Blues are interested in renewing their interest in securing Raphinha’s services.

In addition, in his daily briefing on the exclusive Caught Offside column, journalist Romano provided an update on the Brazilian’s possible transfer to Chelsea.

“There are some reports circulating about Chelsea and Newcastle wanting to sign Raphael,” Romano said.

“I’m sure Barcelona are very happy with Raphinha, so, again, let’s see what happens with Financial Fair Play, but Barca want to trust Raphinha for the present and the future, and he loves the club.”

Raphinha was the club’s top target during the previous summer transfer window, but Chelsea were unable to sign him. We still have the chance to land the Brazilian the second time asking

However, the Catalans only have Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha operating from the right side, and on top of that, he has returned to form for the Spanish side, so Barcelona could be reluctant to sell him.

But the Catalan side is in a terrible financial situation and will undoubtedly need to sell players to buy new players or register them, so we could be successful in signing him.

Given his previous experience playing in the Premier League, adjusting to life at Chelsea won’t be too difficult for the Brazilian if Chelsea are able to negotiate a specific agreement.
