In his Premier League debut against Liverpool, Mukhaylo Mudryk gave Chelsea supporters a glimpse of what to expect from the youngster.
Chelsea acquired Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88 million, who was close to joining Arsenal before The Blues hijacked their target.
As James Milner, an England international attempted to deal with Mudryk Speed, the player was at his throat. In the encounter with Liverpool, the 22-year-old registered the highest speed in the Premier League.
After sprinting at 22.76 mph on his Chelsea debut against Liverpool, Mudryk broke the record to become the fastest player in the Premier League this season.
And in an interview with The Footballer’s Football Podcast (via Football.London), Michail Antonio asserted that the Ukrainian is the fastest person he has ever seen, saying:
“Mudryk, very sharp. That guy is rapid. Woah. Rapid. I haven’t seen people run like that guy.”
It is true that Mudryk has dominated since making his Premier League debut since he is currently the league’s fastest player, which intimidates opponents. They only have a few options to halt players who are quick: foul them, equal their pace, or commit filthy works.
Yet Mudryk appears to have faced the majority of fouls in the games. His speed also forces defenders to step out of the way because it is tough to stop the 22-year-old once he has gotten past them.
The former Donetsk star, nevertheless, hasn’t been able to perform to his full capacity because of excessive man-marking or not being able to find his stride at the club so far.
But there is still a long path to go, and because Mudryk now starts each game, we hope he stays one of our more important players. Speed is nothing without other attributes but the Ukrainian knows how to beat defenders and also seems to have an end product to match.
As the team builds around the young players, Graham Potter will undoubtedly assist Mudryk in developing into one of Chelsea’s finest players. His agility and quick feet will aid our offence and help us score goals. For an opposition player who is currently active and playing for a London rival like Antonio is, to praise Mudryk, is a huge compliment.
