According to Football.London, Chelsea could welcome back up to three defenders from their respective injuries for the league clash against Fulham.
After a last weekend game hiatus due to non-participation in the FA Cup following the defeat to Manchester City in the third round, Chelsea are back in action with a Premier League game against their London rivals on Friday night.
The last time these two sides met was not long ago when Joao Felix made his Blues debut after his loan move from Atletico Madrid and got sent off after an hour mark. Graham Potter’s men lost that game 2-1.
It is a good time for revenge for that defeat and also to put the team back to winning ways once again. The last time Chelsea took the field was against fellow strugglers Liverpool at Anfield. The Blues were the better side but could only manage a goalless draw there.
Potter would expect better things when they next step on the grass on Friday at Stamford Bridge. A lot has happened on the transfers front in that time, but good things have happened on the player recovery side of things too.
Both Reece James and Ben Chilwell, who have missed a lot of games due to injuries this season, can expect to play some part in the Fulham game. They returned to team training before the Liverpool game but Potter wanted to ease them in.
Trevoh Chalobah, on the other hand, picked up his injury late in the match at Anfield. He is expected to be fit on Friday and may even start. More of that will be cleared up when Potter does his pre-match press conference.
Along with the plethora of impressive signings during the January window, it was important for Chelsea to have their key players back from injury. Getting James and Chilwell is part of that deal. We hope for a cracking second half of the season if all things go well.
