According to ChelseaFC365 (h/t Football.London), Chelsea keep the name of Brentford boss Thomas Frank among the potential candidates to replace the under-pressure Graham Potter.
The Bees’ manager has been one of the best in the business since helping the club get promoted to the Premier League in 2021. The west London side have been one of the top teams this season, getting points against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Potter, on the other hand, is under intense pressure after every passing game. Chelsea have won only two of their last 15 league games and find themselves 10th in the table despite spending fortunes in the last two transfer windows.
After the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, reports have come out that the Blues owners are willing to back their man, but the patience is running thin among the hierarchy.
There have also been revelations that Potter has the next two games to save his job at Stamford Bridge. One of those two games is the return leg of the crunch Champions League tie at home.
Last week, it was stated that the club owners want to give the manager a pre-season before judging the results. We have to remember that he was appointed a few weeks after the beginning of this campaign.
It would be interesting to see what happens in the next 10 days. If things continue to slide down, one would suspect that Potter will be gone, opening the door for Chelsea to potentially hire Frank.
On the other hand, positive results can build some momentum going into the latter half of this season. Whatever the case, definite stances need to be taken by all parties involved to make sure the future of this team isn’t compromised.
