Atletico Madrid consider Chelsea target as Joao Felix replacement

Atletico Madrid are looking to sign Marcus Thuram as Joao Felix replacement who joined Chelsea on loan in January

Chelsea target Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach is on the radar of Spanish side Atletico Madrid, who are considering signing him as Joao Felix’s replacement.

The French striker (h/t Mirror.UK) appeared to be a priority target for Chelsea in January, but the Blues reportedly went for other signings.

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich were also interested in signing the striker but did not make any bids. And now Madrid have expressed interest in buying the player to fill Felix’s hole which is on loan to Chelsea.

Will Chelsea sign Thuram in summer window?

However, the Spanish team did sign Memphis Depay to replace the Portuguese, and now rumours claim that Diego Simeone’s team may try to make another effort for the French striker in the summer.

Many clubs will be interested in signing the 25-year-old when his contract expires in the summer (transfermarkt), but it’s said that Atletico will have the upper hand.

Since they’ll use Thuram’s France national team teammate Antoine Griezmann to persuade him to sign with the Spanish club. The legendary Lilian Thuram’s son ranks fourth in the Bundesliga’s top-scoring chart with 10 goals in 18 games played for Gladbach.

Felix, who has a falling out with Simeone, appears unwilling to stay at Atletico Madrid and may be sold if Chelsea or another team meet the club’s demands. From the little time he has played for us, the Portugal international isn’t a shabby player to add to our team at all.

Felix is likely to start against West Ham.

However, it’s for the future, while Felix is back from his three-match suspension and would be in the lineup to start against West Ham on Saturday.

The former Benfica star looked promising in his first game against Fulham, and the Blues are hopeful his ingenuity will help them solve their attacking difficulties.

More Chelsea News:

On the other hand, if the West Londoners want to pursue Thuram again, we can go for him as he is young, boasts a solid pedigree, and will be free at the end of the season. Felix, after all, isn’t a long-term signing for us unless we show interest in signing him on a permanent transfer this summer.
