Newcastle United urged to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher

Speaking to Football Insider as quoted by Football. London, former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has urged Newcastle United to sign struggling English midfielder Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this month.

The talented English midfielder has been struggling to show his quality at Stamford Bridge, like almost the entire Chelsea team. This has led to certain exit speculations for the 22-year-old.

Gallagher really impressed out on loan at Crystal Palace last season. This led to him getting a chance to showcase his ability for Chelsea this campaign but things have not really gone according to plan.

Despite being one of the Blues’ better players in the tepid 0-0 draw against Liverpool, most of his performances this season have not been inspiring. However, one can never fault Gallagher for the effort.

There is no doubting the Chelsea man’s quality. He is just a victim of playing in a poor Blues team right now. It might get better for him should he choose to stay at the Bridge.

Speaking about this situation, Whelan has claimed that he thinks it would be better for Gallagher to move to a club like Newcastle United

“Chelsea will have to get rid of players for next to nothing because they seem to be spending and spending at the moment. I think Newcastle are the one Premier League team who can be appealing to these players — Gallagher, I can tell you now, is the one, for me. He appeals more than the other two because of his age and what he’s already done at Crystal Palace.”

Gallagher deserves an extended run at Chelsea

Chelsea have been spending lavishly in the transfer window bringing in player after player for huge transfer fees. So many entries mean that some exits have to follow as all players cannot get game time.

Gallagher is a player Chelsea would be better off investing in. Not so long ago, he was regarded as one of the biggest English talents going around and considering the age and the ceiling that he has, the Blues can take a long-term punt on him.

More Chelsea News:

A huge few months await the Englishman. If he can turn the situation around, he may have a future in the team. If not, he could be one of the first heads to fall in what is likely to be a mass exodus at Chelsea.
