Graham Potter has made his remark on Mykhaylo Mudryk debut against Liverpool

Graham Potter commented on Mykhaylo Mudryk’s Premier League debut against Liverpool and said the player had shown his attacking brilliance but will undoubtedly perform at his peak when he gets suited to the league.

Potter sought to provide additional attacking depth when he introduced Mudryk in the 55th minute as Chelsea pushed to get their first goal against Merseyside.

Both teams were forced to settle for a draw as they were unable to display their attacking intent. Additionally, both share point 29 but are in different positions — Chelsea are in 10th while Liverpool are in 8.

Their scoreless draw highlighted the similar struggles both teams are going through. However, the Blues’ most anticipated addition could have added a goal when he entered the game as Mudryk did briefly make the Liverpool defence uncomfortable.

Potter (h/t Football.London) stated during the post-game press conference that Mudryk and Joao Felix will definitely live up to their value:

“They’re top players. Sometimes people think us coaches turn top players into top players. But Mudryk and Joao understand the game. It’s just fine-tuning it a bit.”

The £89m signing made his cameo in the 55th minute as the 22-year-old was giving James Milner, who was playing in an unfamiliar position at right back, problems with his pace. And the former Manchester City player couldn’t cope with Mudryk’s agility and was forced to take a yellow card for manhandling the youngster.

Mudryk laid a marker on his Premier League debut.

Trent Alexander-Arnold eventually took over for Milner following a chance 18 minutes from time. Although the Ukrainian was unable to capitalise on his opportunity but showed encouraging signs as he continued to cause problems and had a shot that hit the side netting.

A 0-0 tie may not have been a cause for celebration, but Chelsea’s acquisition of the youngster proved they have a player who can change things. Furthermore, Felix’s debut allowed us to see just how much creativity he brought to the table.

More Chelsea News:

But given that Chelsea have only scored two goals in their past five games highlights the Blues needs a traditional striker with goal-scoring guts, as that’s the club has lacked end product in the attacking third.
