According to Calciomercato (h/t Football. London), Juventus midfielder and Chelsea target Weston McKennie could be available for €30 million in January.
The Old Lady are open to listening to offers for the 24-year-old, with the USMNT international having fallen down the pecking order at the Turin-based club.
Chelsea have been interested in the midfielder but will need to act fast. The report also adds that the player’s representatives have already spoken to Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa.
Graham Potter needs to revamp his midfield. The west London club have an ageing midfield with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante both in their 30s and past their prime. Also, the dynamic duo see their current contract expire next summer.
Other midfielders like Mateo Kovacic, Conor Gallagher and Denis Zakaria have struggled for consistency, with the latter even struggling for game time. Reinforcements are needed and the 24-year-old has been identified as a possible target.
McKennie has played in 16 games in all competitions for the Serie A side so far this season. He also featured in all the games for USMNT at the World Cup this year, with the American side crashing out of the Round of 16 after losing 3-1 to The Netherlands.
The midfielder has put in decent performances this season and being able to get such a player for a low price could prove to be a bargain for the west London club. It will be wise for the Blues to up their interest as the player has also been offered to other clubs.
With the transfer window approaching fast, it remains to be seen whether the Blues will make an offer for the midfielder or not.
