Chelsea are taking steps and leading the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, via GiveMeSport (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are taking steps and currently leading the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbia international, who was part of the World Cup squad that bowed out in the group stage, signed for Juventus in January of this year from fellow Serie A side Fiorentina.

Arsenal were linked with him all those months ago, and they are interested in him now as well. But, it is revealed that Chelsea are ahead of the pack to make this deal happen.

Both the Gunners and the Blues have problems in their centre-forward department. The former lost their star lead man Gabriel Jesus to a knee injury that is going to keep him out for three months.

The latter saw young striker Armando Broja picking up an ACL injury during the friendly against Aston Villa last week. The Albania international is now ruled out for the rest of this season.

For Chelsea though, irrespective of Broja’s injury, they have issues upfront. The team managed to score only 17 goals in 14 league games in the first half of this season.

So, the need for a striker is imminent. The club has completed the deal to sign David Datro Fofana from Molde. But, he is a young striker who may take time to settle into the new surroundings before firing all cylinders.

Graham Potter’s men require someone who can come in and straight away hit the ground running. Even in a mediocre Juventus team, Vlahovic scored seven goals and assisted two in 15 appearances in all competitions before the World Cup break.

More Chelsea News:

The 22-year-old is the type of striker who can help us in the hour of need. He is a guarantee of goals along with a high work rate, clever movements in the box and great quality of finishing.
