According to Chelseafc365 (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri who is only 15 years old.
The attacking midfielder played a minute of football for the Gunners this season in the Premier League when he came on against Brentford.
In doing so, he became the youngest-ever player to feature in a Premier League match, at the tender age of just 15. It was a good moment for him and everyone involved at Arsenal.
The Nigeria-born Englishman is an attacking midfielder by trade but can operate as a second striker or a left winger. He has represented England in the U-16 and U-17 thus far.
For various Arsenal youth sides this season, Nwaneri has played eight games so far, scoring two goals and assisting four. He has played most of his games as an attacking midfielder, a position that suits him well.
Chelsea do have a recent history of signing a top young talent from Arsenal when they signed forward Omari Hutchinson in the summer transfer window.
Hutchinson has talked about the freedom he is getting at Chelsea, which is allowing him to do well on the training field. He may well be starting games for the senior team soon.
Keeping that in mind, the Blues could muster up another move for an Arsenal youngster. Nwaneri is a quality player who is quickly becoming one of the better players on the youth side.
In the summer window, which was the first of the new Chelsea regime, the club did not hesitate in spending money on buying top young talents from England and across Europe.
Along with Hutchinson, Carney Chukwuemeka was signed from Aston Villa, and Cesare Casadei was brought from Inter Milan. It is all part of Todd Boehly’s ‘Vision 2030‘ to have a strong youth side that can challenge for places in the senior team as well.
Could Nwaneri be added to that list in January or in the summer? We would love to think so.
