Chelsea could sell N’Golo Kante in January with Juventus and Inter Milan interested

Chelsea could sell their prized midfielder N’Golo Kante in the January transfer window, with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan interested in the player. This is according to the Italian outlet La Repubblica (h/t Football. London).

The 31-year-old has only featured twice this season, with the midfielder picking up an injury during the 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur back in August. Since then, the Frenchman has been sidelined and will also be missing the World Cup.

Kante is not expected to be back before March in the squad. But now, the Blues could cut him loose and are willing to let him depart in January. The 31-year-old’s current contract also expires next summer.

It is not surprising to see the west London club reach such a decision. The French international has been at the club since 2016, winning every trophy available to him except the Carabao Cup. Now the midfielder is 31 and is past his prime.

A new deal between the club and the player is not looking likely and it would be wise for Chelsea to earn some money from the sale of the midfielder, rather than losing him for free. Kante joined the Blues for a fee of around £30 million.

The midfielder has been worth every penny. One of the best holding midfielders in the modern game, the World Cup winner has played a total of 262 games for the Blues in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and assisting another 15 in the process.

Rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the midfielder. Antonio Conte looks to want a reunion with the midfielder, having been the one to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the first place during his time at west London.

More Chelsea News:

It remains to be seen what happens with the 31-year-old in two months’ time. A fan favourite at the Bridge, the fans would rather see their midfielder in the Serie A than at a rival club like Spurs.
