Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell does not feel any Chelsea player would get into the North London side’s team at the moment. The ex-Gunner feels Mikel Arteta’s team have been exceptional this season.
Arsenal will visit Stamford Bridge to take on Graham Potter’s team on Sunday (6 November) in the Premier League. The Gunners sit at the top of the table, while the Blues are 10 points behind their London rivals.
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express) ahead of the fixture, Campbell is of the opinion that none of the Chelsea players are good enough to make Arsenal’s team.
“None at the moment.
“Kepa has been outstanding, but I think when you look at what Arsenal have done this season, the numbers are where they are in the table, I don’t think any Chelsea player gets into that [team].”
The Gunners have exceeded a lot of people’s expectations in the 2022/23 campaign. They have only endured one defeat in the English top flight this season, a 3-1 loss to Manchester United.
Apart from their result at Old Trafford and the draw against Southampton, Arteta’s team have been perfect. On the other hand, the Stamford Bridge side are struggling and evidently going through a transition season.
Even though we strengthened the squad in the recent transfer window with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana, the sacking of Thomas Tuchel has been a setback for the team. The German manager was struggling to get the results required.
Potter started his reign in the Chelsea dugout with positive results. We had been undefeated in eight games since the English manager’s arrival until the 4-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, while the Blues have had a decent run under the former Seagulls head coach, some fans feel we have not been dominant enough in games. Evidently, Potter will need to implement his style and identify the best team from the players at his disposal.
The game against Arsenal is a crucial one. A victory will ensure that Chelsea keep pace with the teams at the top end of the table. By the end of the season, supporters expect the side to be in the top four.
