International: Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic gives his verdict after USMNT draw against England

Chelsea and USMNT winger Christian Pulisic has given his verdict after his side played out an entertaining goalless draw against England in their second group-stage match at the FIFA World Cup.

The American side were surprisingly dominant throughout the game against the Three Lions and should have come out with a victory. Pulisic, who started the game, came close to breaking the deadlock after his striker hit the crossbar.

Speaking after the game, as quoted on the Chelsea website, the 24-year-old was happy with his side’s performance but acknowledged that his country can be better.

“I thought it was a very solid performance from us against a good opponent. There were stretches of the game where we had control and we pushed them back into their own half. We created chances and could have won the game but to come away with a draw is a decent result.”

“The team has come a very long way and I think we should be proud of the performance. Most of all, it should spark confidence and give us a great feeling going into the last match, which is a must-win for us. If we get through the group, we can enjoy that but we’re nowhere near where we want to be yet.”

Pulisic by far was the best Chelsea player on the pitch last night. The 24-year-old has endured a tough time since moving to the west London club, was at his best and showed what he still has to offer.

He has been struggling for game time this season, but if he continues to play like this, he could be successful in changing Graham Potter’s mind about him and his place in the team.

It is good to see that the winger is finding his form. Just 24, the player can have a very long and bright future at the west London club, but he will have to put in consistent performance, similar to how he played against the Three Lions.

USMNT will qualify for the next round should they beat Iran in their final group-stage game on Wednesday (30 November). Pulisic will likely start the game and will hope to get on the scoresheet to take his country through.

More Chelsea News:

And hopefully, this tournament can be the trampoline upon which his Chelsea career bounces off and reaches a new height. We talk of the club lacking talented forwards but forget that Pulisic can very easily become a player that can put an end to those headaches for the time being. It’s up to him now to show Potter what he is all about.
