Chelsea to match any bid to sign England and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham

Chelsea will match any bid that is made for England and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to acquire his services, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph on the London is Blue Podcast (h/t football.london).

The Stamford Bridge side are one of the teams expected to be in the race for the 19-year-old’s signature next summer. His contract with the German outfit expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Bellingham has been monitored by the Blues for a considerable number of years since his Birmingham City days. Unfortunately, we are not the front-runners to get a hold of the BVB star.

However, Todd Boehly will go all-out and ‘bid big’ for the 19-year-old. Chelsea are in the market for a midfielder and the England international is currently one of the best prospects in football.

Bellingham signed for Dortmund in the summer of 2020 and has thrived in Germany. At the Bundesliga outfit, the midfielder has developed into a fine talent.

However, the 19-year-old has taken his game to the next level in the current campaign. His performances in the Champions League group stages have caught a lot of people’s eyes.

Bellingham has also established himself in Gareth Southgate’s plans. The midfielder has started in both of the Three Lions’ Group B fixtures at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Blues seemingly are in danger of losing strength in depth in the engine room. Uncertainty surrounds the future of N’Golo Kante and Jrginho at the Stamford Bridge side.

Thus, we evidently need to plan for the future. And Bellingham is someone who can be any team’s long-term option for the engine room. Will Chelsea be able to beat the other top clubs and sign the 19-year-old? Certainly, we have the financial might, but it also depends on what the player envisions for himself.
