Transfer News: Chelsea join Arsenal in the race for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic

According to Il Bianconero. (h/t Sun), Chelsea have joined London rivals Arsenal in the race to become potential suitors to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

The Italian giants signed the Serbian international back in January for £66.6m from Fiorentina. He snubbed the Gunners back then.

However, things haven’t gone too well for him in Turin team-wise. While his personal form has been more than reasonable, the club are struggling in the league with only three wins from eight games. Defeats in both the Champions League group games so far haven’t helped as well.

Dusan Vlahovic signed for Juventus from Fiorentina in January.

The 22-year-old has scored five goals and assisted one in seven league appearances this season. So, while the team is struggling, the player is doing his bit to enhance his reputation around Europe.

Chelsea under new manager Graham Potter are looking to fill the hole left by Romelu Lukaku, who although is currently out on loan at Inter Milan, may not come back to Stamford Bridge next summer.

As a result, the Blues will be left with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (33) and Armando Broja (21) as the options to play the number nine role. The former is not a long-term solution while the latter is still a work in progress.

So, it makes sense as to why the club have joined the race for Vlahovic’s signature. The Serbian international has qualities of a top centre-forward, be it being clinical, having good pace, being physically strong and possessing threat both with the ball at his feet and head.

More Chelsea News:

At 22, with tonnes of top-flight experience already behind him, the striker is soon reaching a phase where he is going to be at the peak of his powers. Any club in Europe would want Vlahovic at his best on their side. Chelsea should do everything possible to make sure they are that club.
