Juventus considered a loan with an option to buy Christian Pulisic in the summer

As per a tweet from Ben Jacobs of CBSSports on Twitter, Italian giants Juventus considered a loan deal with an option to buy Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic during the summer transfer window.

The American international was keen on linking up with his national teammate Weston McKennie in Turin. Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini backed the club to sign the 23-year-old. However, after a few talks internally, there was no offer made.

Pulisic faced an uncertain future through a major part of the summer window, with clubs interested in signing him. Chelsea’s league rivals Manchester United were keen on getting him, but nothing materialised.

Pulisic had an unfamiliar relationship with the former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. In his autobiography, the
American explained how his relationship with the German started to unravel into a negative spiral.

He was a fringe player last season with only 22 league appearances. With the World Cup coming in November, the onus was on him to either break through the Chelsea team or move elsewhere to play regular football. Without matches under his belt, it is natural that he won’t be in the best rhythm to lead the USA’s challenge in Qatar.

He did not start any of the six league games under Tuchel this season. However, the German is not at the helm anymore. Graham Potter is the new manager. And is the case every time, the squad players start with a blank canvas under the new manager.

With the 23-year-old staying put at Stamford Bridge, now is the right time to work even harder and get himself into the manager’s eyesight for when he next picks the team for a football match. Potter likes to work with young, hungry players.

More Chelsea News:

Even though he is quite young, Pulisic has 50 caps for the national team. He knows how to handle pressure. Can he get another to showcase his talents at Chelsea? It is a possibility with the new man in charge.
