Glen Johnson believes new Chelsea signings will be concerned by Thomas Tuchel’s departure

Former English international, Glen Johnson believes that the new Chelsea signings will be ‘concerned’, following the departure of Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was sacked last Wednesday with Graham Potter being appointed as the new head coach soon after. Now Johnson believes that the new signings of the west London club will be concerned by the developments at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Bettingodds (h/t football.london), the former Blues player who represented the side from 2003 until 2007, gave his reasons for such a statement.

It will certainly be a bit of a concern for them. The players will be concerned, but at the end of the day, there’s nothing they can do about it. They have to get on with it and hope that Graham Potter rates their style of play as much as Thomas Tuchel did.

Chelsea had a very busy summer transfer window this season. With new owners at the helm, the west London club added seven new players to their senior squad.

Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka, Kalidou Koulibaly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria (on loan) were all bought in for nearly £270 million in total. All the players have played for the club since their arrival, except Chukwuemeka and Zakaria.

Potter dropped Fofana and Koulibaly for his first game in charge and that came as a surprise. Aubameyang, Sterling and Cucurella were the only new players who started the game as the Blues drew at home to RB Salzburg last time out.

The Blues are not playing till October 1, with their fixtures against Fulham last weekend and Liverpool on the coming Sunday being called off due to the passing away of Her Majesty The Queen. This leaves Potter with ample time to get to know his players.

More Chelsea News:

It remains to be seen who are the players who will become regular under the new manager. Fans will hope that no matter who starts, their side wins as many games as possible before the World Cup break in November.
